“Bruce Bowditch: Flow” opens on 1st Friday, March 1st, with an artist reception from 5 to 8 p.m. and an Artist Talk at 5:45 that evening. The acrylic paintings of this new gallery artist capture the unpredictable and beautiful flow of paint over canvas. Bowditch lives the life of, simultaneously, a fine artist and a yoga teacher and author of five books on yoga. “For me, art is the exploration of the mystery, the parts beyond our initial impressions and understanding,” he notes. “There is often a feeling of channeling the work, something else is participating, I'm not wholly responsible for what comes into form. I think the term is flow.” Bowditch primarily uses fluid acrylic paints. And a lot of it. He paints on rigid, canvas-covered wood panels which hold the paint well while he works. Depending on how he wishes the paint to move, he may use various additional mediums to create various effects. After the layers of paint are applied to a panel, Bowditch manipulates the surfaces with a variety of tools, anything from plastic picnic plates to tooth picks to simply letting gravity provide an assist. Join us for our opening reception, mix and mingle with fellow art-lovers, enjoy the Artist Talk and meet Bruce Bowditch, a gifted new gallery artist. See you then!
